In Northern Europe(and Australia of course) there's been a trend for quite some time in the Volvo 'Brick' crowds of external sunvisors that kind of look like the visor your bookie would wear. They call them Gangster Caps and I personally think they're brilliant. I want one. Bad. Since the only place to buy them seems to be a possibly out of business Swedish retailer and getting one in states would cost ~$500 all included, I have this dumb idea of trying to drum up enough interest to start producing them on a small scale. Now the question really is, do you like them? Would you want them on any other car? Am I going to look retarded with that on the top of my Volvo?

They were insanely common in the US for a while, and somewhat later in Australia.
On quite a lot of older cars, they look absolutely the tits. Volvo, I'm slightly more ambivalent toward.

They put them on trucks fairly often.

My '48 Packard has one. I don't think it's original but it looks quite nice.
I also have unmounted one which is transparent red and it's supposed to be suitable for a some Ford Transit model. This customized Transit might have similar.

I haven't seen anything 'modern' with one other than these European Volvo guys and the 90's trucks. I really want one. Know where you can get them in the states?

Ah, I knew I had seen them somewhere else! I think the 80's car resurgence that's been occurring could definitely benefit from these things!

Do you know of somewhere to source them in the states? I'm having serious trouble finding any that are anywhere near affordable once you factor in all the tariffs and shipping.

VW style ones are much cheaper, incidentally. As are modern truck ones, both types are typically fiberglass.

They still make them for modern trucks and big rigs.

Some other variations, in a non-classic car style.

Unfortunately I cannot think better source than eBay.

"Vintage sun visor" and "exterior sun visor" searches got something from eBay but not much. Most were for cars form 40's or 50's.
From Europe I did find a bit more (especially for Beetles) but so big piece might indeed be quite expensive to ship to US.

Looks like there's stuff for vintage cars in the US and trucks. Shipping from the places I found in Europe seemed to be around 150 euros... which is a bit excessive.
